Shining Stars Montessori Academy Achieves Middle States Accreditation

The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools announced on Monday that 100 schools and school systems in 11 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and seven countries have earned accreditation or reaccreditation, the gold standard for measuring and advancing school improvement. Shining Stars Montessori Academy PCS was among the schools listed.

"Whether a school looks to build on its record of high performance and solid reputation or is interested in setting a new course for continuous school improvement, Middle States accreditation is a catalyst for making every school better," said Henry G. Cram, Ed., President of the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools.

The Middle States accreditation is the latest in Shining Stars Montessori’s ongoing drive for excellence. The school was founded in 2010 with a mission to offer a quality Montessori education infused with culturally inclusive principles to guide children to develop to their fullest potential. The founders opened the doors to Washington, DC families in the fall of 2011. In October 2015, the DC Public Charter School Board favorably reviewed the school’s first five years of operation and approved it to continue for another five years. In February 2016, the school achieved the prestigious designation of being the only public Montessori school in Washington, DC to be accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS)– the standard-bearer of authentic Montessori education.
“It is imbued in our culture to constantly seek the next level of excellence. That is what we want our faculty, staff and parents to expect of each other and it is the example we want to set for our students,” said Regina Rodriguez, Executive Director of Shining Stars Montessori Academy. “We are very proud of this latest achievement and intend to continue doing the work of examining ourselves while keeping our students at the forefront of our inspiration.”
